As I have mentioned SEO results take time, no one knows the exact factors that Google considers for the ranking of a web page. Brain Dean, founder of the Backlinko wrote an article about more than 200 Google ranking factors that he thinks Google might consider in its search algorithm. Here are some of them which help you to improve SEO ranking.

Title Tag

The title tag defines the web page title that is displayed on a browser’s clickable title i.e search engine result pages(SERPs) or a page’s tab. This is the first and the foremost important for the Search engine algorithm to understand your whole web page and the better it will be the better your CTR will be.

<title></title> are called tags elements in the HTML. You can practice more about it at W3Schools.

What’s the optimal length of the title?

Search algorithm only shows the first 60 – 70 characters on the search result. 

Actually, it’s not the character that Google algorithm shows on the search results but it’s total pixels that decide how many characters will be visible to a visitor on search result pages.

Hypothetically: The maximum pixels that Google bot shows on SERPs is 600 pixels. 

But:

Google never confirmed what the actual pixel width it shows. It varies on different screen sizes.


So, your page title should be relevant to the body of content and you should include your focused keyword in it and for best result, use your targeted keyword towards the beginning of the title.

Friendly slug: 

Before understanding friendly slugs. We need to understand:

What is a slug?

Slug is nothing but an identification method, which helps users or Google bots to identify a particular page.

It means these are used to identify the particular page’s content. 

For example, for this article the URL is https://www.webmasterbot.com/how-to-get-good-seo-ranking and the slug is “how-to-get-good-seo-ranking”.

So:

It describes users and search engines that on this particular page you will find ways to improve SEO ranking. 

Why are slugs super important?

Practising to write a friendly slug is super important. 

So: 

Do start practising the following recommendation in your slugs.

Includes your targeted keywords in the slug: 

As I have mentioned earlier Google bots consider it to know your web page is what about. So, it’s important to use your focused keywords in the slug and best practices to use towards the beginning.

SEO friendly Slug:

On the SERPs besides your page title and meta description, URLs are present and these too humans read. 

Consider this example:

If you are searching for a certain topic “basic SEO” on the Google search and you see the following two slug result:

www.example.com/?p=23498 and www.example.com/improve-seo-ranking

From the first what did you understand? Probably nothing. Right?

Whereas, the second URL clearly describes what you will find on this web page.

LSI Keywords

Consider it:

If you are writing content around your focused keyword “Apple”

How Google search algorithm will understand whether you are writing about Apple phones or Apple fruit.

Right?

What are LSI Keywords?  

LSI(Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords are the highly correlated words or phrases surrounding a given topic that help search engines deeply understand the content on the webpage and the relevancy to the search term.

There are multiple ways to find the LSI Keywords and out of them, one is using the Google Search Related to, which is easy to find out.

LSI keywords are not just related keywords what I just told you above. One needs to dig much more to understand how to use LSI keywords in your web content.

Image Optimisation:

And might you know that users do more than 4 billion Google searches every day.

What is Image optimisation

Practising optimising your image for the Google image search results is Image optimisation.

The basic of image optimisation is to use alt text and compress the file size of your image as much as possible without sacrificing the quality of your image. 

The other use of image optimisation is to reduce the page load time.

Long-tail keywords:

Looking at the heading, it might already give you an idea about long keywords.

Did they?

Okay. 

Let’s understand the definition:

The phrases or terms which are more specific with low competition on Google search but having a decent search volume are called long-tail keywords.

Generally, these are made up of 4+ words. 

If you are just started out to rank your keywords for your web pages then you should start targeting long-tail keywords. 

Finding long-tail keywords will take time. But, not with the proper guide or with the right tools.

Post Long Content: 

What ideal length of content would you like to read more?

Forget about what long content was for search engines algorithms before.

That was the time when SEO was all about keywords. People used to do keyword stuffing and those tactics did work those times.

In today’s date, the long-form content has 3000+ words in it.

And, Google hates thin content. 

Have a look at how long content performs on the internet.


As you can see above:

The first result typically has a little more over 2450 words and for the 10th position is it 2050 words.

But:

Practising writing long-form content doesn’t mean you are repeating invaluable words and the same story again and again. It may result in a higher bounce rate.

And, writing long content doesn’t mean, Google will put your web page on to the 1st position. There are several other factors too. 

Internal links:

These are the links that point from one web page to another web page of the same domain.

It has several benefits, have a look at some of them:

Understanding the relationship between content:

It helps Google to understand deeply your web content and the related or similar content which is present on the same domain but on the other web page. 

Navigation:

Navigation of web pages falls under internal linking. It creates a hierarchy of the web page content. Helps user to navigate the website and put your keep your website web pages in a structured manner. 

Page Authority:

Google doesn’t rank websites but it ranks webpages.

Google bots divide webpages based on their page authority and every page have one. It can be same for two web pages. Often, the homepage has the maximum link value because it has maximum backlinks. 

So, page authority will be shared with other links that are found on the home page. 

Every web content doesn’t perform well on the search. Start practising to use interlinking to your high page value to the low performing content to increase the page value. 

High-Quality Backlinks:      

To build an SEO friendly website, one needs to create a Google-friendly website. 

For this Google has created a quality guideline to follow for proper to find, index, and rank your site.

We need to create content that Google wants. If probably you have seen the buzzword “E-A-T” in your SEO world then, you know what content I’m talking about. In this, A stands for the authority of a web domain. The higher the domain authority, the higher chance to rank a keyword at a higher position.    

To increase the authority of your website you need to gets quality backlinks from your niche industry or relevant niche as much as possible. 

Remember this:

Getting 5 backlinks from five different domain is far better than getting 100 backlinks from one domain. 

The more referring domain(relevant niche) will be, the more chances of increasing your website domain authority.
